Karastan rugs
are famous for producing top quality oriental rug reproductions
using the famous karastan axminster loom and the special "lustre
wash". Karastan rugs made using this loom and wash process
have the appearance of an original hand woven oriental rug.
This large scale production has helped to popularize the trend
in oriental home decor.
Karastan rugs have been making rugs for almost 75 years.
In fact it was April 8th, 1928 at 2:02pm when the first rug
came off the loom. These oriental rug reproductions were extremely
hard wearing and to prove the point a special large area rug
was placed in the Chicago worlds fair (1933-34). Over five
million people walked over this rug. After the fair just half
of the rug was cleaned, and the contrast amazing.
Today karastan rugs is still a leader in the manufacture
of oriental rug reproductions. They are continuously investing
