Hooked rug kits allow anyone to start rug making -- But what should be in the kit?

Hooked rug kits allow an absolute beginner to get started in this fantastic rug making hobby, A hooked rug kit should contain a hook, a burlap backing cloth with a stamped pattern of the design, sufficient wool cloth strips to complete the project and full easy to follow rug making instructions.

To start using your hooked rug kit you must first fasten your burlap backing cloth to a frame, such as a heavy duty quilting hoop or a stretcher bar. Next, cut the wool cloth into strips about one quarter inch wide by eight to twelve inches long. Finally use the rug hooking tool to pull the wool strips through each of the holes in the burlap backing, before finishing off any loose ends. For full details you should consult the rug making instruction supplied with your rug hooking kit.

Hooked rug kits are widely available online and come in a huge range of designs, sizes and prices. There are also many specialist sites where you can read about rug weaving in general and find rug hooking patterns, rug making tips and other useful information.
